Congress Avenue was closed to traffic between 2nd and 3rd streets on Thursday after glass was reported as having fallen from the Austonian– a condominium tower that is the city’s tallest building. According to the Austin American-Statesman newspaper, police received a 911 call from a caller reporting “raining shards of glass” just after 2:30 p.m. Police told the Statesman that glass from the building is designed to shatter upon impact.
