County balks at funding West Lake lights (GA)

Some West Lake residents want the county to help defray the cost of installing new street lights.  But at nearly $80,000, county officials says they don’t have the money nor the inclination to lend a hand.  A representative of the West Lake Property Owner’s Association told commissioners on the Development Services Committee last week that the approximate cost of the installation for 36 new street lights is $200,000.  “They … wanted us to pay a $78,000 fee … (to) tunnel under the roads and everything else that goes with it,” county Development Services Director Richard Harmon said following the meeting. “We don’t do that.
