Decades-old deed restriction reads ‘Caucasians only’ (TX)

Decades-old deed restrictions can protect a community’s charm and value, but some also contain outdated and racist reminders of a dark past.  A deed restriction drafted in 1947 for the Oak Forest neighborhood states:  “None of the lots shown on said plat shall be conveyed, leased, given to or placed in the care of, and no building erected thereon shall be used, owned or occupied by any person other than of the Caucasian Race. ”    Read the article………….
