In Victoria, the Supreme Court handed down a decision on July 22 declaring that neither subdivision law nor strata legislation enabled owners corporations in that state to make rules which prevent owners of individual apartments from leasing out their apartments on a short-term basis. A bylaw implemented in 2004 by the owners corporation at the Watergate apartment complex in Melbourne’s Docklands apartment precinct which attempted to ban stays of less than 30 days in duration was thus invalid, Riordan ruled.     Read the article………….
