Q: Can a Home Owners Association forbid owners from flying the American flag?

Answer: “The short answer to the reader’s inquiry is yes, an HOA may prohibit or regulate the display of the American flag,” said Lawson Newton, a local attorney who specializes in real estate matters.  The long answer, he added, is “yes, but the HOA MUST have registered restrictions at the Register of Deeds office that meet the statutory provisions to do so.”    Read the Q&A……………
