Safety or segregation? Jackson residents address gate ordinance (MS)

A move to gate up Jackson neighborhoods from the surrounding city inched one step closer Tuesday night as representatives from several Jackson neighborhoods voiced their desire to enact a citywide gate ordinance.  Residents from the Northlake, Woodland Hills and Heatherwood neighborhoods attended and spoke at Tuesday night’s city council meeting. Most of the attendees were in favor of an existing ordinance, which allows the installation of gates controlling entry to residential streets. Residents hope Tuesday’s input will be used to better define the city’s gated community ordinance.    Read the article…………….
