Fire sprinkler system considered too costly at Honolulu condo tower (HI)

The fire that killed three people at the Marco Polo Apartments condominium tower in Honolulu could have been less severe if the building had a sprinkler system in place. ¬†Residents began returning to the 36-story tower on Saturday after Friday’s five-alarm fire tore through parts of the 26th and 27th floors, leaving 12 units “heavily damaged,” the Honolulu Star-Advertiser reported.
