Montana gateway and resort towns struggle with impact of vacation rentals

She said Montana vacation rentals are not allowed to be used as venues for large gatherings such as weddings. However, an independently managed rental near Red Lodge hosted a wedding with about 200 guests earlier this year. The event prompted the local homeowner association to ban vacation rentals in the subdivision and killed the possibility of Red Lodge Reservation managing a lucrative contract in the neighborhood.  Marble said another homeowner association enacted a similar ban near Red Lodge’s golf course. Several properties previously used as vacation rentals were soon placed on the market. She plans to meet with the other two companies that manage short-term rentals in Red Lodge to discuss strategies to prevent future bans.   Read the article………….
