Both President Trump and Governor DeSantis invoked states of emergency and triggered the statutory emergency powers for Florida’s community associations. Found in Sections 718.1265, and 720.316 of the Florida Statutes, these emergency powers were enacted with hurricanes in mind. However, the statutes apply whenever a national or state emergency is declared.
