We reached out to the U.S. Postal Service who says they are not in charge of replacing damaged mailboxes: “Postal Service guidelines specify that the purchase, installation, maintenance, repair, and replacement of mail receptacles are the responsibility of the customer; or apartment property management companies and homeowners associations (HOA), where applicable.” Gomez said he just wants to feel safe using his mailbox again. “I’d rather USPS do it but if our HOA can come up with better mailboxes for us, I’d be all for that also,” said Gomez.
