Three years ago, on January 1, 2019, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (“OPCC”) began applying their Guidelines for obtaining meaningful consent when investigating complaints made under Canada’s private sector privacy law, the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act, S.C. 2000, c. 5 (“PIPEDA”).
