There are 115 insurers still writing new policies in California, and there’s also the California FAIR Plan Association, which was established to meet the needs of the state’s homeowners unable to find insurance in the traditional marketplace. FAIR provides up to $3 million in coverage per HOA complex, according to Michael Soller, deputy insurance commissioner for the state Department of Insurance.
