Federal law protects satellite dishes, but not HAM radio antennas, in deed-restricted communities (FL)

Q: I live in an association in San Antonio. I am a licensed HAM radio operator.  Our HOA management company keeps sending me notices and assessing fines for a temporary antenna that fits on a PVC mast.  Our HOA rules do not specifically ban antennas, but they mention that dish receivers must be attached to a railing and on a tripod. So, I fashioned a temporary mast that’s tied to my dish frame.  The HOA’s letter claims it is a tower (which it is obviously not) and a fire hazard.  Don’t the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) rules preempt HOA restrictions with respect to my antenna, since amateur radio is federally licensed?    Read the Q&A…………………..
